July storms brought moisture and significant wind throughout the Red River Valley, damaging crops. Bayer Technical Product Manager Grant Mehring says the wheat around Fargo did take a hit from the storms. “For the last two weeks, I’ve seen a fair number of fields that have been in the rain bands in southeast North Dakota that are lodged.” Mehring remains optimistic about the wheat crop. “There’s going to be a good amount of yield in our wheat crop because there have been periods of hot, periods of cold, but on the whole, I would expect a pretty good wheat crop.”
