Minn-Dak Farmers’ Cooperative Vice President of Agriculture Mike Metzger says this year’s sugarbeet crop is looking very good. “The past month has been nothing but favorable weather for our sugarbeet crop.” The Minn-Dak agricultural staff has pulled the first yield samples of the season. At this point, the company has a 9.75 tons per acre average. “That’s not the best we’ve ever had, but it’s in the top five that we’ve had at this point in time,” said Metzger. Using its forecasting models for the full year, Minn-Dak is projecting an average yield of 28.6 tons per acre. Pre-pile is just a couple of weeks away. “We’re going to start that on August 19th.
