The Trump administration has released details on its new trade framework with Indonesia. Under the agreement, 99 percent of U.S. exports to Indonesia will face zero tariffs. In return, Indonesia will reduce key non-tariff barriers, including eliminating preshipment inspections for agricultural products and easing export controls on rare-earth minerals. The U.S. will impose a 19 percent tariff on most Indonesian goods, though products with significant Chinese content will face a higher 40 percent rate. The deal is expected to generate $50 billion in new market access and U.S. commodity purchases. Further tariff implementation details are expected by August 1.
