Minnesota’s cattle industry is seeing renewed optimism thanks to strong markets and momentum on key policy issues. Minnesota State Cattlemen’s Association President Jake Thompson says producers are finally being rewarded for years of hard work. “The work is the same, no matter if you’re losing money or if you’re making money,” said Thompson. “So it’s a great opportunity here to make some dollars for the work that you’ve done.” Thompson says that includes both cow-calf and feedlot operators, with broad profit opportunities across the sector. He also highlighted recent wins on the policy front, especially federal support for ag tax relief and emergency animal health resources.
