President Donald Trump used social media to announce Coca-Cola will use cane sugar in its soda sold in the U.S. In Trump’s words, “this will be a very good move by them.” Coke completely made the switch to high fructose corn syrup in 1984. Corn Refiners Association President and CEO John Bode said this move doesn’t make sense. In a statement, Bode said this switch will “cost thousands of American food manufacturing jobs, depress farm income and boost imports of foreign sugar, all with no nutritional benefit.”
