Arthur Companies launched a wheat breeding program two years ago with veteran wheat breeder Morrie Rugg. “It’s unique to have the vertical integration of a breeding program from an elevator chain,” said Rugg. “We’ve got some really good products from my previous program that we acquired from BASF for wheat growers. Foundation wheat seed is being grown now under the Frontier Seed brand. “It’d be hitting the market in 2027 for commercial seed availability.” Arthur Companies hosted field days in Arthur, Hoople, Steele and Harvey.
