Farmers impacted by recent tornadoes and flooding may be eligible for multiple USDA disaster assistance programs. Livestock producers can apply for the Livestock Indemnity Program if they experienced losses beyond normal mortality or were forced to sell injured animals at a lower value. Feed and grazing losses may be covered under the Emergency Assistance for Livestock, Honeybees, and Farm-Raised Fish Program. Other available support includes emergency loans for recovery and the Farm Storage Facility Loan Program to help repair or replace damaged storage structures. Risk management tools like Federal Crop Insurance and the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program also provide protection but carry strict loss reporting deadlines. Farmers are encouraged to contact their local USDA Service Center or visit farmers.gov for more information.
