South Dakota farmers planted record-large corn acreage this year. South Dakota Corn Growers Association Executive Director DaNita Murray said the tariff talk during planting season had an impact. “In light of some of the export challenges that soybeans face, I’m not sure whether or not beans are penciling out very well for everyone so during critical decision periods this spring, we potentially saw growers flip over to corn.” It is setting up to be a big corn crop. “I know that’s not going to be wonderful for price, but it is still early yet.”
