According to the USDA Acreage Report, South Dakota farmers planted a record high 6.4 million acres of corn. That’s up from 5.9 million last year. Soybean acreage is estimated at 5.2 million acres, down from 5.4 million in 2024. Spring wheat acreage is unchanged at 660,000 acres. South Dakota sunflower acreage is at 280,000 acres, up 35,000 acres from a year ago. Sorghum acres are down significantly.
