The North Dakota Soybean Council and the North Dakota Corn Council are sponsoring a two-day workshop, Feeding and Fueling the World, that will focus on bringing agriculture into the classroom. EducationProjects.org Director of Education Jane Hunt says there is a need to bring ag education to the greater population. “About four percent of all students across the country take an ag-related coursework,” says Hunt. “What we’re really trying to do is reach those other 96 or so percent of kids who take biology.” The workshop is designed for middle and high school science teachers and aims to help promote ag education in the classroom. “We realize that there are a lot of misconceptions around agriculture, so what we’ve been doing is trying to get that information to teachers so they can focus on that in their classrooms.” The two-day workshop will take place on Wednesday and Thursday in Casselton.
