More Federal Job Cuts in FY ’26

According to the Trump Administration’s 2026 fiscal year budget, USDA will cut 22 percent of its workforce. That’s on top of the workforce reduction that has already taken place at the Agriculture Department. A publication for federal workers called Government Executive reports the NRCS will lose 4,000 employees. Most of those cuts will be for those workers providing technical assistance for conservation planning.
