A carbon development company based in the Red River Valley will distribute $1.1 billion in direct payments to farmers and landowners who bury organic carbon over the next nine years. In a statement, Veteran’s Carbon Holdings said it will work with ag leaders in North Dakota and Minnesota to build a carbon contract. The project covers 2.5 million acres of farmland and is projected to capture more than 40 million tons of CO2 in its lifetime.
