Minnesota farmers had just 3.3 days suitable for fieldwork last week as widespread rain slowed progress, but planting remains well ahead of average. Corn is 97 percent planted, with 78 percent emerged, and 69 percent of the crop is rated good to excellent. Soybeans are 91 percent planted, nearly two weeks ahead of the five-year average, with 56 percent emerged. Small grains and specialty crops are also progressing quickly. Spring wheat, oats, and barley are all over 90 percent planted, with emergence and early development underway. Topsoil moisture is mostly adequate, though 15 percent is short to very short. Pasture and hay conditions remain steady, with most acres rated fair to good.
