Between March and the end of the school year, nearly 3,000 third graders toured the Ag Education Center at the Red River Valley fairgrounds in West Fargo. North Dakota Corn Council Communications Director Heidie Haugo said the students participated in interactive experiences and learned about the commodities grown in the state. “The goal of the field trips is to make sure that students know that beyond that farm-to-table aspect of agriculture, ag is all around them,” said Haugo. “We talk about corn being in more than 4,000 different items at the grocery store, but of course it’s also in your fuel, right? The goal is really just to enlighten students and to help them realize just how important agriculture is to their daily life.”
