In northeastern North Dakota, farmers are off to a good start on planting. Dekalb Asgrow Technical Agronomist Derek Pruitt doesn’t want growers to be in a big hurry to plant corn yet. “I kinda feel like May 1 is always a great time to start planting corn,” said Pruitt, “Obviously, if conditions are suitable, then let’s go, we can go earlier but,. yeah, I’m good with holding off just a little bit on the corn, to make sure we’ve got the optimal conditions.”
