Demand for grain transportation in the first quarter of the year remained strong. While rail grain carloads were slightly below average nationally, record corn exports were seen from the Pacific Northwest export terminals. By state, the grain cars loaded and billed in the first quarter were down 25 percent in Minnesota, but up 23 percent in North Dakota and up 26 percent in South Dakota.
