White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed trade and tariffs in Tuesday’s briefing with reporters. Leavitt shared a statement from President Trump about trade with China. It said, “China needs to make a deal with us; we don’t have to make a deal with them.” Leavitt made it clear that the President is open to a trade deal with China, but the responsibility lies with China to initiate that deal. Leavitt also said more than 75 countries have reached out about possible trade deals “and we do believe we’ll be able to announce some deals very soon.”
