For McCook Central FFA student Colton Stiefvater, winning the Star Farmer award is a welcome surprise after years of hard work. “It feels amazing,” said Stiefvater. “I started off in 7th grade with a chicken flock and a sheep flock. I sell eggs to customers in my area and I’ve grown my customer base dramatically over my years of owning my chicken flock. I also sell show sheep to local youth and I’ve had county fair champions and state fair division winners.” Stiefvater plans to attend Butler Community College and finish his collegiate career at Kansas State or South Dakota State University.
