A bipartisan group of lawmakers from the House and Senate sent a letter to Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, asking for potash and phosphate to be added to the Department’s list of critical minerals. The letter said these fertilizers are a critical component for food security. A large percentage of these fertilizer products are imported. The 40-plus lawmakers signing the letter included Senate Agriculture Committee Chair John Boozman and House Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson. House members signing the letter included South Dakota Congressman Dusty Johnson and Minnesota Congressman Brad Finstad.
