Minnesota’s new budget forecast is at $456 million surplus, down from $616 million in November. For the out years, the deficit has grown to $6 billion. That will impact the amount of spending available for the rest of this session. Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Torrey Westrom released a statement critical of the state’s financial picture. Westrom said the government needs to ‘stop treating taxpayers as bottomless piggy banks.’
