The commercial use of drones for agricultural spraying and other applications has gotten a shot in the arm in North Dakota. A $11 million appropriation has gained approval in the North Dakota House and Senate. Rather than line-of-sight, these unmanned aerial systems would be integrated into the federal government’s Pathfinder radar system. North Dakota would be the first state to be part of the FAA program. The Northern Plains UAS Test Site, which is in Grand Forks, was also the first-of-its-kind nationwide.
