The corn futures market has been active, but AgMarket.net hedging strategist Tyler Schau said the local basis is one of the worst nationwide. “The lesson is to be really attentive,” said Schau. “Last fall and early winter, I used Red Trail Energy when they were a minus 35 basis; that’s a good basis in western North Dakota. When you see that, take advantage of it. Don’t get too greedy.”
