Weeds have a direct impact on yields, which in turn takes dollars out of farmers’ pockets. “There’s a Southern Illinois University study that shows for every inch of weed grows, if you let it compete with your corn, you’re losing four-and-a-half bushels to the acre,” said Blake Miller, agronomy service representative, Syngenta. “A grower can then take four-and-a-half times what they sold their crop for and they can really start to dig into the economics of what it’s costing them.”
