The United Nations Climate Change Conference, which is better known as COP29, was held in Azerbaijan. Plant-Based Product Council Executive Director James Glueck was part of the program and said there was a realization that agriculture could be part of the solution. “I don’t think there’s a lot of recognition at the global scale for all the time and energy that growers spend improving their land, improving water, improving the air,” said Glueck. “Folks don’t realize what you do on the farm with the responsible use of resources so you can pass the farm on to the next generation.” The United States, the European Union and other major nations agreed to provide $250 billion per year to developing countries to address climate change. That’s far short of the trillion-plus number that the small, developing countries sought. With the election of Donald Trump, that figure may be in doubt. However, Glueck said U.S. agriculture remains committed to this issue.
