In October, U.S. milk production rose 0.2 percent from a year earlier. In South Dakota, milk production increased nearly ten percent. During the past year, South Dakota dairy farms added 17,000 cows to the milk herd. Minnesota milk production declined a half-percentage point, losing 9,000 cows over the past year.
