Today may be Election Day, but another vote is coming up Thursday for a merger of two major farm cooperatives. Members of West Central Ag Services will vote on a proposed merger with CHS. The Arthur Companies made an unsolicited bid for WCAS in April. Arthur Companies CEO James Burgum said they were told at the time they were outbid for this deal. After seeing merger language this past week, Burgum said his company made a better offer and the decision was made to bring that information to WCAS members before the special meeting. The Arthur Companies make their case, including its complete offer, online. CHS Executive Vice President of Ag Retail, Distribution and Transportation Rick Dusek also spoke with RRFN and outlined the benefits of their proposal. Dusek said the CHS merger plan has already received approval from anti-trust regulators. Listen to the RRFN story.
