UN Takes Action on Antimicrobial Resistance

The United Nations General Assembly approved a declaration to step up global efforts to fight antimicrobial resistance. The UN puts the focus on stewardship programs and strengthens the role of veterinarians on the farm. There had been proposals to mandate a reduction in antimicrobials and limits on the use of certain antibiotics in animal agriculture. The National Pork Producers Council praised the UN decision.
