The supply of hogs nationwide increased a half-percentage point over the past three months. The breeding swine inventory declined by just over two percent and there was an increase of less than one percent for the number of hogs kept for marketing. Those totals were within trade expectations. According to USDA’s quarterly hogs and pigs report, an average of 12.1 pigs were saved per litter. That’s up from 11.6 pigs per litter last year.
