Kulm, North Dakota farmer Bart Schott was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the barley this year. “I think all the samples came back good for malting so that was a nice surprise.” None of Schott’s barley was malting quality a year ago. Schott is concerned for some of the row crops because of late planting.“The stand isn’t quite there on the soybeans and the corn came up really spotty in some fields.”
