Twenty-six North Dakota Farmers Union members were on Capitol Hill this past week urging lawmakers to pass the farm bill. “We’re finding even more urgency because prices have collapsed as far as the commodities we sell,” said NDFU President Mark Watne. “You need that farm bill and that certainty to be able to go into your bank or figure out what you’re going to plant to try and weather the low price storm we’re seeing.” In an interview with RRFN, Watne said the stage may be set to pass a farm bill during the lame-duck session after the election. Watne also said the National Farmers Union continues to work on the issue of competition. Listen to the interview.
