Adult grasshoppers were found in 83 percent of the fields evaluated for the NDSU Integrated Pest Management Crop Survey. That’s up from 68 percent last year. The drought area was reduced with the wet early summer conditions, but the grasshopper population remained moderate-to-high in past hot spots, especially in western North Dakota.
