Renewable fuels are another way to increase demand for crops in the U.S. “Renewable fuel cuts across both corn and soybeans,” says Richard Syverson, past president of the Minnesota Corn Growers Association. “But we need to make sure that the dollars that these government entities are putting into sustainable aviation fuel somehow find their way back into farmers’ income statements.” Syverson says this can be a great way to decarbonize transportation and increase farmers’ economic viability if implemented correctly.
