In the 1970s and 1980s, the U.S. Agency for International Development brought Moroccan students to the United States to get their education. University of Minnesota College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resources Director of Alumni and Constituent Relations Mary Buschette says many of the students came to St. Paul. “It was impactful for the faculty here because the students would come here and do classes but they would also work on research projects back in Morocco. I can’t remember the total number of students that have come through but a lot of professors in the agricultural colleges and universities in Morocco were educated through the University of Minnesota.” The University of Minnesota Alumni Association is hosting a two-week trip to Morocco in November. “One of the really cool things is the minister of agriculture in Morocco is a CFANS grad and he’s going to be coming to meet with us while we’re there.”
