There is strong demand for climate-smart government programs in Midwest agriculture. USDA Undersecretary for Farm Production and Conservation Robert Bonnie stressed these conservation programs are all voluntary and incentive-based programs. “We’re trying to figure out ways to reward producers either through the market or with government incentives for doing good by the environment and maintaining productivity. We need farmers, ranchers, and forest owners to help us design this.
