Advocating for agriculture is becoming more important as people become increasingly disconnected from farming. “We go to the legislature out in Bismarck and fewer and fewer of those lawmakers are farmers,” said Brenda Elmer, North Dakota Corn Growers Association executive director. “If you’ve never been exposed to that, you just really don’t know.” At the Root Connections supper and social in Gilby, Elmer expressed the importance of people in agriculture sharing their stories so consumers know the work and dedication that it takes.
