The Senate Appropriations Committee has approved the 2025 ag spending bill. At the hearing, Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee Ranking Member John Hoeven delivered a familiar message. “We have the highest quality, lowest cost food supply in America and we take that for granted at our peril, right?” asked Hoeven. “What keeps that going? That network of family farms and ranches across this country, 16 million people involved directly or indirectly in agriculture because we’ve got a great farm program, but it benefits everybody.” Hoeven said the bill includes his priorities, including support for ag research, more funding for Farm Service Agency staffing, and significant funding for FSA operating and ownership loans. Earlier this week, the House Appropriations Committee also passed its version of the ag spending bill.
