In eastern North Dakota, the wet, cool start to the season favor cereal grains. “Spring wheat and spring barley crops look amazing except for where water has ponded,” said NDSU Griggs County Extension Agent Jeff Stachler. The moisture also hit soybeans and dry beans. “Too much water, not enough heat, not enough sunshine.” Stachler feels the soybean crop will yield well if farmers can get them to maturity, but “we’re so far behind compared to a year ago.”
