It was a lengthy farm bill debate with bitterness from both parties’ members. Near the end of the hearing, former House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas scolded his colleagues. “As the evening has progressed, we have started to sound a little bit like Government Oversight or Judiciary or some of the other committees where everybody likes to fight,” chided Lucas. “That’s not the House Agriculture Committee. We face enough challenges just doing our work when we are all working together.”
