The grains markets are feeling the effects of weather both locally and around the world. Flash freezes are leading to a strain on Russia’s wheat crop, while flooding in southern Brazil is impacting the soybean harvest. NDSU Extension Crops Marketing Economist Frayne Olson says the global issues have influenced U.S. commodity prices. “We’re also starting to hear some additional interest in some additional Chinese buying of U.S. soybeans, which is out of character for this time of year,” said Olson. “We are getting a little bit of a bump there.”
