Mississippi River levels are back to more normal depths after two years of shallow conditions. Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek says all the rain we’ve been getting has done wonders for the water levels in U.S. River systems. “We’re happy to see that drought conditions are improving.” Higher water levels on the Mississippi have slowed down barge navigation in places. “Barge companies are having to exert some caution on their barge configurations, due to the higher water levels and swift current on the Mississippi. But overall, it’s a very good development.”
