In the latest NDSU Crop and Pest Report, Extension Agronomist Clair Keene advises farmers who planted early to check corn for imbibitional chilling injury. “A day or two after planting, if it’s cold or wet soil, that cold water that the seed absorbs could be cold enough to damage the seed.” Damage could lead to malformed roots and shoots and poor germination.
