The Minnesota House passed the environment and natural resources supplemental policy and finance bill with a 68-63 vote. For agriculture, it calls for an Environmental Impact Statement for livestock operations with more than 10,000 animal units. There’s also a provision that bans the planting of corn on state land. For decades, farmers would grow crops on state land and leave some of the crops for livestock. Altura Republican Steven Jacob was disappointed, saying “this was a good program for farmers, for hunters and most of all, it’s good for wildlife.” The bill now advances to the Senate.
