A drier spring has hay use down in the area according to NDSU Extension Livestock Systems Specialist Karl Hoppe. “I think a lot of farmers have more hay available this year just because they didn’t use as much as last year,” Hoppe says. Warmer weather might also mean earlier turning out to pasture for cattle. “Grass is greening up, but you never know what’s going to happen.”
