The REAP program is a USDA grant and loan option that Senator Tina Smith says is perfect for farmers looking to save money while installing new energy systems. “REAP is a very popular loan progam at USDA for farmers looking to install new energy systems. It helps producers save money and it also helps reduce carbon emissions,” Smith says. Minnesota farmers are seeing real benefits from REAP thanks largely to improved cost-shares from the Inflation Reduction Act. The application period for REAP is open for the 2024 fiscal year.
