Cattle futures dropped to a three-month low this past week. Mitch Barthel, who owns the Perham Stockyards and the Tri-County Stockyards, is continuing to see strong prices at auction. With record values for 90 percent beef trimmings, weigh-up cows and bulls are also bringing record money. “With the markets we’ve seen, they’ve been selling cattle right along and it doesn’t look like they’re retaining much. The market is so good, they’re selling a few cattle and trying to catch up on some bills.”
