Global fertilizer prices are beginning to soften slightly. However, StoneX Director of Fertilizer, Josh Linville says that is not the case in the U.S. as spring demand picks up. Logistics is a big issue. “Coming into this spring season, there’s a lot of trepidation in regards to pricing,” said Linville. “The supply chain just didn’t want to take the risk. They couldn’t bear the thought of losing that much money by putting a lot of product in and then seeing prices fall.” Fertilizer inventories are tight, creating a headache for those with a ‘just-in-time’ philosophy.
