With HPAI expanding from juvenile goats to dairy cattle to a person, additional safety precautions are advised. Great Plains Center for Agricultural Health Director Renee Anthony said this may be an isolated case, “but, we really need to be prepared for the next step.” The Center for Disease Control and Prevention advises the general public should avoid diseased or dead animals. If unable to do so, respiratory protection is recommended.
