During a House Ag Committee hearing on the dangers to American agriculture by the Chinese, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem expressed concern over the risks to national security. “When we talk about food policy, please talk about it from a national security standpoint.” Noem pointed to recent attempts by the Chinese government to purchase land near key U.S. military installations as an example of the security risk. “China would never allow us to go to their country and buy land. They don’t even allow their own people to buy their land.”
