During a Q and A session at the Agriculture Outlook Forum, Ohio State University Professor Emeritus Carl Zulauf was asked about this year’s decision between the ARC and PLC programs. Zulauff said splitting base acres from one farm into ARC and another into the PLC program may be worthwhile. “If yield is more of a concern for you, ARC is probably the better program for you and if price is more of a concern, probably PLC is better,” said Zulauff. “They’re really close together and whenever there is a lot of uncertainty in decisions, diversification is always a good management strategy.”
