CHS is reporting first quarter net income of $523 million. That’s down from record first quarter earnings of nearly $793 million one year ago. Continued strong soybean meal and soybean oil demand drove strong gains in the ag business. The gains in oilseed processing were offset by poor export demand. The refined fuels business enjoyed favorable returns due to strong global energy demand. CHS is the nation’s largest farm co-op.
